Dumont Facts & Info
Dumont Sand Dunes are located approximately 30 miles north of Baker,
CA. The elevation at Dumont ranges from about 700 feet at the river to 1200 feet on the top of Comp. Hill. There is approx
8,150 acres of open area. Many of the dunes are large and steep, some razorbacks and some rollers. There
are also smaller dunes and bowls to dune as well. There are two areas of dunes at Dumont, Little Dumont (located
long HWY127) and the main area of dunes. Little Dumont is loctaed along HWY 127. Approximately a mile
north of "Little Dumont" there is a gravel road (Dumont Dunes Road) which brings you to the main area of dunes ("Big

Camping
The camping area consists of a huge flat area.
The sand can get pretty soft the closer to the dunes you get so be careful not to get stuck. There are no facilities at Dumont
other than pit toilet restrooms(no running water). You must bring everything there that you need for your trip.
The closest store, motels, gas stations, etc are in Baker, Ca (approx 30 miles). There are no dumpsters at Dumont. There
moto is "Pack it in, Pack it out!" There are no campsites to reserve, no water/sewer hookups, dump stations, etc. There are
dump stations in Baker and Tecopa.

$20 for a 7 day pass (only available on-site)
$60 for an annual season pass

You must have an OHV sticker for every bike, buggy, golf-cart, quad, go-kart,
or any vehicle that is not already registered that you ride or drive at Dumont.
Stickers are $20 each

Dumont Rules
-
every OHV (bike, quad, sandrail, etc) must have a flag (whip)
-
every OHV must have a CA green sticker or non-resident sticker
-
no doubles on bikes or quads
-
BEWARE, no drinking and driving- they will treat that as a DUI!

you must wear a helmet
-
no shooting
-
no Littering. Dumping of black or grey water tanks is a big hell no-no!
-
no nails or metal of any kind in fire wood. Ex: no pallets
-
no glass containers: buy cans of beer, NOT bottles
-
you must have headlights and tailights when night riding/ driving
-
no hazardous materials. example: Don't burn magnesium in your fire. They WILL ticket you and may treat
it as a felony. It's not worth it!

camping is limited to 14 days
-
15 mph speed limit on Dumont Dunes Rd(main gravel road) or near any campsites
